Weekend of Songs brings amateurs, professionals and listeners together

By Emilie Thiessen

Well, it’s official… after three days of concerts, open mics, meet-ups and jam sessions, the first Weekend of Songs: Songwriters Festival was a success. We’ve already been asked to bring it back for a second annual Weekend of Songs at The Local Blend in 2012. Stay posted for more definite details on that soon.

Saturday night’s line-up brought us from blues to folk to acoustic pop to country to “rockoustic.”

This mornings jam session was small, but a lot of fun. Paul Imholte’s stories and songs during his lunchtime featured set showcased an incredibly talented songwriter and performer. Open mic featured some great regular Tuesday open mic players and newcomer Shannon Mohs.

Thanks everyone for helping us make this a great success! We’ll be posting more news, suggestion forms and contests in the coming weeks. Like us on Facebook at for more updates, galleries and to join the conversation.
